A week ago, after mass, we asked Father John Coleman out to lunch. During our meal, I told him about feeling God lead me to the Seize the Day Conference to raise the C (Christian) in YMCA last fall. I told him about writing about that journey on my Anchor Moments website. The feelings of God pulling me there and setting up great learning moments while along the journey were intense. I also saw signs to leave my part time position at the Y.
While looking for a new career with more pay and benefits, I have continued to lead the YMCA Interfaith Prayer Breakfast as a volunteer this year and soon it will be here. But I do not know what I am supposed to do next. I asked Father John to pray for me and to help me figure out how to hear God give me the next steps. Father John told me to ask God each day, “God please help me use the talents that you gave me today.” He told me I would know and would feel His answer.
I tried it and Father John was right……
Last Wednesday, I prayed that prayer first thing in the morning. When I opened up my email, I saw a post in my inbox from Charlene Costanza, “Today’s Touchstone Moments.” This was a surprise because a few months ago, after years of receiving and reading her daily Touchstone emails, they began to show up in my spam folder instead of my inbox. I tried to star them and mark them as important, yet that is where I would have to go to find them. But Wednesday's Touchstone email landed back in my inbox... and just for that day. Every day since, new Touchstone emails are sent to my spam folder again!
Wednesday’s Touchstone was a significant one for me and I almost cried after reading it. It had a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. and it talked about being discouraged by violence and discrimination and hatred. And it gave a call to action to do something that would generate peace. I could feel God’s love hug my heart. It gave me both peace and energy to continue pushing forward to promote peace at the YMCA Interfaith Prayer Breakfast.

When I was in the YMCA parking lot ready to leave last night, I called my husband. I told him about being excited about Darleen's speech and having the program start to fall into place now. Jeff said, "Don't worry. You know who is in charge, right?"
I said, "God?"
Jeff said, "Right!"
Then as I pulled away, there was a big beautiful puffy cloud with sun set colors in it and lots of lightning bolts, that I got to drive towards on my way home....so beautiful and powerful it took my breath away! My friend, Judith Garner, saw the cloud too and here are her photos of it:
