Have you ever taken a Leap of Faith? Have you ever felt pulled to do something and you can’t shake the feeling until you do it? That has recently happened to me.
I decided to give up control of my life, because I am only holding myself back. After many years of being a faithful follower of Jesus (or so I thought), I finally decided to do it... to "Let go and let God."
What does it mean to "Let go and let God?"
I have heard faithful friends say this phrase before, but I just didn’t get it. I went to church regularly. I volunteered and taught vacation bible school, religious education of both children and adults. I taught Living Your Strengths at my church for seven years using the Clifton Strengths Finder (now Clifton Strengths). I even chair a huge annual community interfaith prayer breakfast at the YMCA, but I don’t think I have ever, "Let go and let God," not until about a month ago…
After much prayer, I told God I was ready to do His will and if He could light up the path He would like for me to take, I would take it. I didn’t hear voices from any burning bushes, but I have been given signs that have lit up my path.
The first sign I was given was to become friends with Stormy Rose. We both attended a Chamber 101 event put on by the Chandler Chamber of Commerce. During these events, members are given an opportunity to stand and deliver a 30-second commercial to plug their business. When I heard Stormy give her commercial, the sign was so strong it made me suck air! And let me tell you, after listening to thousands of 30-second commercials over the years at chamber of commerce events, I have never sucked air before! It was as if the Jesus inside my heart was leaping to His feet and pulling me in Stormy's direction. She was intrigued by my commercial, as well, and wanted to meet with me.
Stormy and I met up after that meeting and surprisingly, we both had the whole day free and we spent hours that day getting to know one another. We decided to meet for coffee at Brunchie’s and split a breakfast…..then we closed Brunchie’s at 2 pm and went to a late lunch at the Chop House and we stayed there till 5 pm. It was a little miracle that as busy as we both usually are….we each had the time that day to spend getting to know one another.
Being Stormy’s friend has been a huge gift in my life. We both coach people using the Clifton Strengths Finder and it has been a joy having a friend who shares my passion for it. Stormy also opened my eyes to many new things including joining Toast Master’s. I am so thankful that I was able to follow that strong pull to be Stormy’s friend. I thoroughly enjoy her company and she is now a very dear and close friend. It was an easy leap of faith…
